Port of Call Spotlight: Dubrovnik, Croatia

Dubrovnik is one of Croatia’s most famous cities for good reason — the walled city along the Dalmatian coast juts out gorgeously into the calm turquoise Adriatic Sea and there are delights to be found both within and on top of Dubrovnik’s walls.

Walk the Dubrovnik Wall

At the top of your list when visiting Dubrovnik should be to walk around the Old Town part of the city on top of the wall. Yes, that’s right, you can walk on the wall. The flat top of the city’s stone protection makes it easy to amble along as you take in spectacular views of the historic buildings and beautiful scenery spreading out from the walls. There is only one place to enter the wall so be sure you know where it is so you don’t waste time looking for it.

Dubrovnik Sea Excursions

If you’re more excited about the water surrounding Dubrovnik than the actual city, then you’ll love the Cruise Dubrovnik Riviera and Time at the Beach shore excursion. You’ll cruise around the Lapad Peninsula that Dubrovnik is located on and then get a little bit of time to explore the Old Town (you’ll likely want to see at least a bit of the city after all) before being taken via boat to the relaxing and gorgeous Sveti Jakov Beach where a sunbed, umbrella, and drink will be waiting for you.

Another fun water activity is to snorkel while in Dubrovnik. The water off the coast of Dubrovnik is one of the best places to snorkel or scuba dive in Europe thanks to its high visibility and abundance of sealife.

Dubrovnik Wine Tasting

While in port in Dubrovnik, you can also opt to head out into the countryside to the nearby wine region. You can visit magnificent vineyards and stop by wineries to taste some Dalmatian wine.

Dubrovnik as Seen on TV

And last, but certainly not least if you’re a Game of Thrones fan, there is the Game of Thrones tour where you can visit the sites the popular television show has filmed at.
